Where is Abbey Wood? Abbey Wood is a district of south-east London in the Royal Borough of Greenwich, postcode SE2, about 10 miles east of central London. It sits on the historic London–Kent border and was once part of Kent, so it's sometimes still called Abbey Wood, Kent. Abbey Wood station is on the Elizabeth line and Southeastern, roughly 10 minutes from Canary Wharf. The area takes its name from the ruins of Lesnes Abbey, founded in 1178, which stand in Abbey Wood village today.
